This man has proven that love know no distance. A Dutch flew all the way from his homeland to China just to meet the girl he met online.
The hashtag “Foreign man went to Changsha to meet his online girlfriend” trended in micro-blogging site Weibo in China that lead the tragic love story of a Dutch man and the Chinese woman that he met online to be known worldwide. 41-year-old Alexander Pieter Cirk flew 4,500 kilometers across the globe to meet the girl who caught his heart.
The hashtag “Foreign man went to Changsha to meet his online girlfriend” trended in micro-blogging site Weibo in China that lead the tragic love story of a Dutch man and the Chinese woman that he met online to be known worldwide. 41-year-old Alexander Pieter Cirk flew 4,500 kilometers across the globe to meet the girl who caught his heart.
According to news, the Dutch was seen waiting for several days in the airport at Hunan province in China hoping to see the love of his life named Zhang, a 26-year-old Chinese woman he met online. The two have been chatting for two months and later decided to meet up at the airport. Unfortunately, it seemed that Cirk was the only one serious about the meet-up.
Upon arriving at the airport, Cirk waited for 10 long days and just made use of the airport’s facilities for him to survive until exhaustion hit him. At first, he was hesitant to be taken to the hospital fearing that Zhang would arrive anytime soon.
Cirk was discharged last Tuesday (Manila time) and flew back to his country without meeting Zhang. Later, Zhang contacted Chinese media to explain why she failed to show up at the airport. According to her, she didn’t thought that Cirk would be serious coming to China just to meet her and during the days when Cirk waited for her, she was having plastic surgery in another province and wasn’t been able to check her phone.
Despite the heartbreak, Cirk and Zhang are still keeping in touch and plan to meet each other after they recovered.
